About Anne

Anne Crosby Gaudet is a graduate of Acadia University (1990) and the University of Michigan, holding a Masters Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy (1993).  She earned the Acadia University Medal in Music for academic achievement and the 1993 D.H. Baldwin Fellowship award for excellence in private and group piano instruction.  Her teachers have included Joanne Smith, Arthur Greene, Peter Allen, Janice Stephens, John Hansen and Hetty Jackson.

Anne is a Canadian composer of piano teaching material for children. She has published a number of piano solo collections with the Frederick Harris Music Company including: In My Dreams, Freddie the Frog, Rise and Shine, In the Mermaid’s Garden and Fuzzy Beluga.  Her compositions are published in the Royal Conservatory of Music's Celebration Series and have become favorites for exams, music festivals and recitals in North America.

Anne taught piano pedagogy at both Dalhousie and Acadia University, where she also supervised Acadia University's community program for private and group piano instruction and teacher training.  After moving to Halifax she became the coordinator of the Keyboard Kids group piano program at the Canadian Conservatory of Music.  She is an active workshop clinician and has adjudicated numerous music festival throughout Canada.  Anne currently operates a thriving piano studio in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Anne is a strong believer in life-long learning and continued education.  Throughout 2011 she studied independently and took six examinations in Grade 10 Piano, Intermediate Harmony, Music History: Middle Ages to Classical, Music History: 19th Century to Present, Piano Pedagogy Written and Piano Pedagogy Viva Voce.  She was the recipient of the Atlantic Provinces Gold Medal for both Grade 10 Piano and Elementary Piano Pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Her hobbies include digital photography, web design, video and animation. These skills have come to add an exciting artistic dimension to her teaching, composing and studio management.  Most recently Anne has discovered a passion for learning the celtic harp. She is having a wonderful time exploring, learning and composing for this beautiful instrument.
