Shortly after I posted our little video on YouTube, my brother-in-law (who is an amazing photographer) asked if one of my students would like to create music for a slideshow of photos he had taken in Iceland. We turned it into a little contest. My six Pattern Play students were allowed to practice with the video for two weeks and then just before Christmas I recorded the six performances. Each student chose an appropriate improv style and focused their attention on subtleties such as pacing, photo transitions and color.
The girls all did a fantastic job with this project and I am so proud of the significant strides they have made in skill, artistry and confidence. I gave Colin the six mp3s so he could listen and select his favorite.

Colin Campbell is a fine art photographer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His artistic practice is largely representational, but he also tries to reveal abstract and surreal impressions of my mind's eye. Fine art photography has been his vocation since retiring as a high school history teacher. He has won numerous awards and displays his art in galleries and solo exhibits.
